Political Signs Across America: 3,000 Miles of Deviciveness?

We drove 3,196 miles from Utah to Ohio and throughout the State of Ohio. Throw in a quick trip to Orlando and we have visited 10 States in three weeks. We have been in small towns and big cities and all the way we counted the number of Trump and Biden political signs along the roads. Why?,,,,,, beats me, but its a long drive and we needed to do something. In America; we love our signs!

Signs are like polls and the popular vote….none of it means much, its all about the Electoral Collège. That means your vote in California or Utah doesn’t matter much since your State’s majority is pretty well decided. Doesn’t seam totally fair, but at least you are spared the endless political ads that Florida and Ohio voters are forced to endure. Political signs are something else though….we love to share our opinions and signs are everywhere.

In regards to how we did our counting; if one property had more than one sign, only one was counted. Also, it didn’t matter the size of the sign; it was still counted the same.

If signs did count; Trump would win the November election in a landslide. We counted a total of 499 Trump signs compared to 110 Biden signs. Of course, we were mostly going across Republican controlled States with a lot of farmland. The exception was Ohio, where we traveled extensively for two weeks. That included in all major cities and freeways around the State. Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, Dayton, Youngstown, Akron, and Canton were all visited. Sandusky was as far in the northwest corner of the State as we got …. Toledo is a nice place but we just didn’t have a reason to go there.

The breakdown on signs was as follows:

Utah: 1 Trump: 0 Biden

Wyoming: 1 Trump: 0 Biden

Nebraska: 3 Trump: 1 Biden

Iowa: No signs? (But we were only in the State for a few miles.)

Missouri: 41 Trump: 3 Biden

Illinois: 30 Trump: 3 Biden

Indiana: 2 Trump: 0 Biden

Kentucky: No signs? (But we were only in the State to go to the Cincinnati Airport.)

Florida: 11 Trump: 0 Biden (This was a surprise for us.)

Ohio: 410 Trump: 103 Biden (Akron area was definitely a Biden hot spot!)

Other observations:

Trump supporters have bigger and more signs.

A business has developed around selling Trump signs and hats. We saw two roadside stands selling Trump junk.

If we saw a “Black Lives Matter” sign, we often saw a Biden sign and never saw a Trump sign.

If we saw a sign supporting the police or fire department, we often saw a Trump Sign and never saw a Biden sign.

Some interesting signs:

Dump Trump

Biden: Support Rural Infrastructure (That was in Lincoln, Nebraska and I didn’t get it.)

Trump Lies: Biden Lies More

God, Guns, County, Trump

Stop stealing my Trump Signs

Hillary for Prison

Vote Trump: Make Liberals Cry Again

I would say, Trump supporters are more passionate in regards to signs and like them big…..and have a sense of humor.

Anyway, signs don’t matter…but we sure like to put them up.

Bottom Line: It doesn’t matter which flag you support…… go vote!!

  1. Thanks to both of you guys for providing this entertaining post. Interesting to see what was stuck in front yards and other spots around the country. When this festering, political pimple is coming to a head on 3 November! VOTE – ’cause if you don’t vote, don’t get the right to holler and bitch about whomever wins!
